For His Own Good

Panel 1. On a close play at home plate, the catcher tags the sliding runner before he reaches the plate. Sam calls him out as the home manager charges from the dugout. Sam: “OUT!”

Panel 2. The manager screams inches from Sam's mask, his neck veins bulging. Manager: “He was safe by a mile!”

Panel 3. Close on the manager's neck and pounding pulse. Sam goes very still. No dialogue.

Panel 4. Sam ejects the manager, who stomps away, as Jeff jogs in from third. Sam: “You're gone!” Jeff: “That was quick.” Sam: “It was for his own good.”
