Empty Seat

Panel 1. At the next home game, Duane’s seat behind the plate is empty. Sam looks toward it. No dialogue.

Panel 2. Between innings, Jeff jogs past and follows Sam’s look toward the empty seat. Jeff: “Missing your fan club?” Sam: “No.”

Panel 3. In the seventh inning, the seat is still empty. Sam looks again. No dialogue.

Panel 4. The next night, Duane is back with a heart monitor taped to his chest. Sam pulls down his mask, smiling. Duane: “Doc says you were right, Blue!” Duane: “YOU STILL SUCK!”
